Cataract Surgery and Newer Advances: Revolutionizing Vision Care
By Dr. Kenshuk Marwah
Eyes are windows to the world, and the gift of vision is priceless. I, Dr. Kenshuk Marwah, have dedicated my life to restoring sight and enhancing the quality of vision for my patients through advanced treatments and cutting-edge technologies in ophthalmology. With a background in MS Ophthalmology, FICO (London), FVRS (Retina), and FRCSN (Cornea), my journey has been shaped by a passion for innovation and a commitment to better patient care.
The Turning Point: A Lifelong Dedication to Eye Care
The decision to specialize in ophthalmology was inspired by a conversation with my Principal during my MBBS days. Learning about advancements in eye surgeries, particularly those related to the cornea, was captivating. Witnessing patients suffer from preventable blindness due to conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetes solidified my determination to make a difference in this field.

Advancements in Cataract Surgery
Cataracts, one of the leading causes of blindness, can now be treated with remarkable precision thanks to modern advancements. Traditional cataract surgeries have evolved to incorporate premium intraocular lenses (IOLs) and Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) lenses, which offer patients clearer and more comprehensive vision. These innovations not only restore sight but also significantly improve patient’s quality of life by reducing dependence on glasses.
One challenge I often encounter is the lack of awareness among patients about these new options. Many still view cataract surgery as a basic procedure, unaware of the premium solutions available to them. My role as an ophthalmologist extends beyond performing surgeries—I ensure that every patient is well-informed about their treatment options, tailoring solutions to meet their unique needs.
Revolutionary Treatments in Retina Care
Retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy are another major cause of blindness. Through advancements like intravitreal injections and diabetic lasers, we can manage these conditions effectively. These treatments slow disease progression and, in many cases, restore vision. Technologies like the Keeler MIO prototype, an advanced UK-based gadget I’ve worked with, help detect early changes in diabetic and glaucoma patients, offering timely intervention.

Overcoming Obstacles
One of the greatest challenges in my field is bridging the gap in awareness. Patients often delay seeking care because they don’t realize how much modern ophthalmology has progressed. It is my mission to educate people about the latest advancements and provide access to world-class care in Delhi and Gurugram.
Achievements and Ongoing Goals
Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to present scientific papers and share my expertise at national and international conferences. I’ve also been recognized for my contributions, including:
- Editorial Coordinator – Indian Journal of Ophthalmology
- Associate Editor – Retina – An Insight, E-Newsletter of the Vitreo Retinal Society of India (VRSI)
- My association with Keeler Inc., working on advanced diagnostic tools.
However, the true measure of success lies in the trust my patients place in me and the smiles that come with restored vision.
Vision for the Future
Motivated by the goal of preventing blindness, I am committed to bringing the latest advancements in eye care to my patients. Every day is an opportunity to make a difference, one patient at a time.
